Tennis Tip: Your Non-Dominant Hand Controls the Backhand

Whether you hit a one-handed or two-handed backhand, the biggest hidden power source is your non-dominant hand (left hand for righties on a two-hander).
Most players lose control because they let that hand go passive too early or no use it enough.
Key Idea
Your non-dominant hand is responsible for:
- Turning your shoulders (unit turn)
- Guiding the racquet back
- Helps you create more power through contact and follow through
If that hand drops early, your swing gets rushed and you won’t fully utilize your non-dominant hand for power. Interested in taking lessons at Oakton? Click HERE
