Anthony Crowder

We are proud to announce Anthony Crowder and the Head Diving Coach of the OSRC Otters!!!  Anthony has a solid foundation of coaching, mentoring and developing new and experienced divers of all ages.  He brings a passion for the sport and a commitment to excellence while instilling an encouraging, fun and dynamic culture.  A graduate and diver from UNC Charlotte, Anthony brings 10 years of coaching experience to OSRC.  He is currently the head coach of George Washington University as well as a coach at Mason Dive Academy.  His experience ranges from early-age beginning summer divers to collegiate, AAU and USA national qualifiers and champions.

It is exciting to welcome Coach Anthony to OSRC.  His proven ability to foster a positive team-based environment while focusing on the skills and development of each individual diver will create a successful summer experience for our team.  



Coach Ken Hansen is in his 6th summer with Oakton Otters dive team and has coached the Otters Winter Dive program for 9 years.  Ken has been an Assistant Dive Coach for Oakton High School for 10 seasons; and has previously served as Head Dive Coach for Madison High School. He is currently coaching diving classes for FCPA at Oak Marr, and coaching with Dominion Dive. Ken was the top diver at Oakton High School in his senior year, placed 2nd at Districts and was the only diver to qualify for and participate in States that year.  He also broke the school's 11-dive record.  In 2008, Ken teamed up with coach, Cheryl Meltz, to compete in The Masters National Championships and win the Masters Diving National title in Mixed Synchronized Diving.  Ken also was the 2008 Masters Diving Platform National Champion.


Liam Klopfenstein is returning as a 2nd year dive coach with the Oakton Otters. He will be starting his senior year at Oakton High School this fall. Liam is very involved in Oakton's Theatre department, and takes part in the fall shows and spring musicals. He looks forward to another great summer of diving with the team!


Elana Colbert recently graduated from James Madison High School and will be attending Virginia Tech next year to study business. This year is her thirteenth year on the dive team, and she has competed in eight All-Star meets. Diving has been a huge part of her life since she began at five years old. This will be Elana’s first year as a coach, and she is looking forward to this season! 



Cheryl Meltz-Kroopnick helped start up the Oakton Otters Dive Team in 2005 and has been coaching the Otters since the team’s inception, including running the Otters’ Winter Dive program.  Cheryl is also the Head Coach of Oakton High School’s Varsity Dive Team and has coached at the Junior Olympic level with York Dive Club and Dominion Dive Club.  As a former Division I college diver for Colgate University where she was conference champion on both 1 meter and 3 meter and a National Finalist for the “NCAA Woman of the Year”, as well as a 5-time Masters’ Diving World Champion, Cheryl brings a wealth of diving knowledge as an athlete, as well as 26 years of coaching experience at all levels of the sport.  She is very excited for another wonderful summer dive season!
